A Collective Responsibility

We dream of a world where the dignity of women, children, ethnic minorities, migrants, and all those exploited is upheld and restored to its rightful place. In order for this to occur, a broader societal change needs to take place on a relational, political, and empirical basis.

This dream is bigger than what any of us can accomplish alone. There is a role for each of us to play. The key is finding the role that fits you best.

Campaign Jordan Freedom

The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan declared a general pardon for those in detention in the Kingdom, including migrant domestic workers who have been arrested for overstaying their residence or other minor offenses. Many of these have experienced conditions of human trafficking, including forced labor and sexual abuse, forcing them to flee their former employers and work undocumented for a period of time. The general pardon covers overstay fees they accrued during that time, allowing many who are ready to travel back home to do so.

In the next 2 weeks (April 16-30th), we are raising $1,500 USD to help repatriate at least 5 survivors from Jordan to their home countries. This is a unique opportunity to help survivors who have been stuck in country for months or years get home and be reunited with their families! We are looking for 30 people to give $50 towards Campaign Jordan Amnesty.

“My work in Jordan as a house maid was not easy at all. The madam of the house I was working in told me there is no food or time to sleep. I would work for more than 20 hours. My boss would threaten to have sex with me every time my madam was not in the house. I was so afraid so I ran away to try and find new work, but I have not been able to find any. I don’t even have the money to buy water. Please help me get back to Ghana.” -Survivor in Jordan
