Migrant Worker Education and Resources

Migrants to the Gulf states are often placed into jobs that are exploitative. This exploitation is facilitated through language and culture barriers, bad recruiting practices, and lack of easy reporting mechanisms that allow migrants to identify and remedy exploitation. Migrants and their communities need to be informed of these issues and available resources to better protect themselves while taking advantage of valuable work opportunities overseas. However, dissemination of this information requires identifying key access points where information and training can be provided in a manner that is broadly distributed. Many migrants are involved in some type of faith community or other community-based association, which are valuable vehicles for connecting with and informing the most vulnerable labor migrants.
