New Morning

The Rain Collective continues to partner with organizations in Egypt to help support women who have experienced sexual exploitation. We are currently working on the translation into Arabic and contextualization of three training modules for capacity building of workers who provide aftercare for trafficking survivors.

Our partner Media Arts for Development (MADEV) has also been working in communities for most of the last decade to help prepare places for survivors to return to the community. Many times women who have experienced sexual exploitation in Egypt will face a second challenge trying to return to life in their home communities. The women are seen as having caused their situation to take place and as a shame to their home communities. Many women have faced physical harm or death as a result.

Media Arts for Development has been working to change that perception and to prepare communities to receive survivors into a new life. They have invited the Rain Collective to work closely alongside of them as they prepare communities for the next steps. We are thrilled to join them in this work and to see new opportunities for survivors.
